Came all the way from London for this place due to hearing so many great things. I have to say it was worth the drive really good food and really good customer service. Will be taking the 30 min trip now and then. Would 100% recommend seating available as well

Yesterday was National Fish and Chip day so we popped to Fishy Plaice to celebrate with them. We had a great welcome, and fantastic hot, delicious fish and chips, mushy peas and tea for two. The regular portion was plenty for us. Great experience and a very good price.

Fish and chips as it should be. They had a lunch special with a smaller piece of cod. Perfect as it isn't as overwhelming. Light battered fish and crispy chips. Staff are chirpy and happy and service with a smile. Worth visiting again.

Ordered over the phone this evening, collected within 10 minutes of calling. Really lovely guy that served me (sorry I don’t know your name 😁) the fish and chips and mushy peas were delightful and the curry sauce was spectacular ❤️ amazing meal at a great price, thank you so much!

Went there to dine in and had the whole plaice to ourselves. The service from the kind lady was fantastic. Our food took 20 mins or so because it was completely fresh and it came out perfectly. Great fish, well cooked. Great chips. A good deal on the small fish and chips too. Highly recommend during quieter times

After several days of ‘fancy food’ in overpriced restaurants both here and in London, it was wonderful to have a really good plate of cod and chips! The cod was perfect - the batter so light and the chips - real chips that you could taste the potato! And HOT too. There’s even beer! The staff added the finishing touch. Simply lovely!

Highly recommended. The best fish 'n' chips ever eaten. Fresh fish, crispy batter and well fried chips. Nice and cosy atmosphere. Clean and tidy. A must if you are in St Albans.

Excellent Fish and Chip shop. They have plenty of selections of fish and other food. The cod fish I had was delicious and cooked to perfection. I will definitely be back.

Great quality food and generous portions!! Amazing chips and and fish perfectly battered. The food is not greasy and you can tell that its freshly fried etc. The service is always friendly and helpful and it's nice place to sit ot take away.

So on the fly we thought we go to Verulamium Park and chill and have so some chips, seen this place on Google maps, and so glad we did 😊 absolutely amazing food great customer service genuinely can't recommend this place enough 😀 and well worth the drive from watford just for a portion of chips. I recently visited Fishy Plaice, and I have to say—it was absolutely amazing! From the moment I walked in, the place had a welcoming atmosphere, and the staff were incredibly friendly. But the real star of the show? The food!
The fish was unbelievably fresh, perfectly cooked with a crispy, golden batter that was light and not greasy at all. You could truly taste the quality in every bite. The chips were just as impressive—crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside, and seasoned to perfection. It’s clear they take pride in their ingredients and preparation.
I’ve had my fair share of fish and chips, but this was on another level. Everything was cooked to perfection, and the portion sizes were generous too. I will definitely be coming back—this might just be my new go-to spot for the best fish and chips around! If you haven’t tried Fishy Plaice yet, you’re seriously missing out!
